Best SEO agencies in London

desk research from public sources
the short version
  • Seven London SEO agencies, ordered by how closely each fits a London SEO buyer and how much it can show. Exposure Ninja leads on before-and-after figures with starting numbers, and its awards are confirmed on the organisers' lists.
  • Only three are headquartered in London: Re:signal, Reboot Online and Gripped. The other four run a London office from a base in Nottingham or Leeds.
  • Re:signal and Gripped publish what they charge. SALT.agency publishes nothing, so its price here is our estimate and is labelled as such.
  • Choose by sector: Re:signal for ecommerce, Gripped for SaaS, SALT.agency for technical enterprise SEO, Impression for large integrated search teams.

Prices checked October 2026. Estimates say so in the price itself. How we choose agencies: our method.

How we picked these

We started with agencies that list SEO as a core service, show search results for named clients and have an office in London, checked against the postcode on their own site. Three are headquartered in London. Exposure Ninja, Hallam and Impression are based in Nottingham with a London office, and SALT.agency is based in Leeds with one. Every agency here is an active company with a number we could check.

The order follows fit first: how central SEO is to what the agency sells, and how closely its work matches a typical London buyer. After that we looked at what each agency can show, meaning case studies with starting figures and windows, awards confirmed on organiser lists, published prices and a named team. Exposure Ninja leads because its figures come with starting numbers. Impression sits last because several of its figures lack a baseline. This is desk research from public sources only, and we have not watched any of them run a campaign. More on how we choose agencies.

What SEO in London actually costs

A monthly retainer pays for the agency’s time. It rarely covers everything a campaign needs. When you compare quotes, check whether each of these is included or charged on top:

Only Re:signal and Gripped publish a monthly price. As a rough guide (our estimate), small-business SEO retainers run from about £500 to £1,500 a month, while enterprise and ecommerce programmes at agencies like those here start in the thousands and climb from there. We have not seen a London premium confirmed in published prices, so compare quotes for the same scope.

FAQ

How much does an SEO agency in London cost?

Re:signal states that engagements begin at £10,000 a month, and Gripped publishes tiers from £3,500 a month (both checked October 2026). The other five on this page publish no price. For SALT.agency our estimate is from about £5,000 a month, based on its enterprise client list. Treat London retainers as our estimate when a price is not published, and expect ad spend, content and development time to cost extra.

Do I need an SEO agency based in London?

Not necessarily. Agencies on this page that run London offices from Nottingham or Leeds work with clients remotely, and Re:signal and Reboot Online describe themselves as remote teams. A local office helps if you want in-person workshops. Ask where the people on your account sit.

What should I look for in a London SEO company?

Look for case studies with baselines and time windows, a named person who runs the account, published reporting cadence and clear pricing terms. Several agencies here quote percentage gains without a starting figure, which makes the result hard to judge.

How is a London SEO agency different from a national one?

The service is the same. A London address mainly signals access to in-person meetings and a larger local talent pool. Only two agencies here publish rates, so compare quotes for the same scope.

I spent eleven years inside agencies, most of it as the account director explaining why a project ran over. Now I read the scope documents before anyone signs one.
